The radiation oncology nurses at the Proton Therapy Center are committed to providing comprehensive patient care in a multidisciplinary setting. They collaborate with doctors, radiation therapists, nutritionists, social workers, and other specialists in the hospital.
Dr. Lee is specialized as Junior Clinical Step Radiologist. He has succeeded Dr. Kwan Cho and oversees prostate and bladder cancers, adults' brain-nervous system cancers, head, and neck neoplasm cases. Stated “NCC is now able to provide state-of-the art radiotherapy for cancer patients, including proton beam therapy, image-guided radiotherapy (tomotherapy), intensity modulated radiotherapy and three-dimensional conformal brachytherapy. NCC Korea is playing essential roles as the national center in the fight against cancer through research, medical care, support for national cancer control programs, education and training.
Joo-Young Kim, M.D., Radiation Oncology Gynecologic Cancer, Pediatric Cancer at the proton center, says that proton therapy, which allows to save a lot of normal tissue, is important PBT treatment suitable for all children and adolescents, as they cannot be treated with x-rays because their central nervous system is not mature enough to counter the negative effects of radiation on healthy cells. Dr. Kim is the author of book titled "Treating Childhood and Adolescent Tumors with Proton Beam Therapy"
